Installing electric charging stations in the workplace
Which professional should you turn to for installing a company charging station?
Choosing a certified professional EV charging station installer is essential to ensure the safety, regulatory compliance and technical performance of the equipment.
This specialised service provider supports the site manager at every stage of the project: technical study, choice of equipment, electrical installation, maintenance and post-installation support.
A turnkey solution ensures comprehensive service, from installation to supervision of charging points, in compliance with French electrical standards and building regulations. This allows companies to develop their electric vehicle parking facilities with complete peace of mind and offer their customers and employees a reliable and sustainable charging service.
What subsidies will be available for installing charging stations in 2025?
In France, The Advenir programm is no longer open to all businesses: since 30 June 2023, it has been limited to automotive service companies and short-term rental companies.
Automotive service companies: 50% of the cost excluding VAT (supply + installation) covered, with caps per point: £1,700 (3.7–11 kW AC), £2,200 (12–43 kW AC), £4,500 (20–40 kW DC), £7,500 (>40 kW DC).
Short-term rental: 35% covered with ceilings of €1,200 (3.7–11 kW AC), €1,600 (12–43 kW AC), €3,200 (20–40 kW DC), €5,300 (>40 kW DC).
Outside of Advenir, local/regional subsidies are available: these vary by region and generally require installation by an IRVE installer, compliance with standards, charging management, a maintenance contract of ≥ 3 years and signage for equipped parking spaces.
In terms of national taxation, tax credits and MaPrimeRénov’ are reserved for individuals (housing/home charging) and do not apply to businesses.
What types of recharging point are best suited to the needs of businesses?
Businesses can choose between several types of IRVE charging stations, depending on their needs and charging profile:
-
AC (alternating current) charging points: from 7.4 to 22 kW, suitable for daily recharging in the workplace.
-
Fast DC (direct current) charging points: 50 kW, ideal for professional fleets or rapid recharging.
-
Intelligent charging points: these control charging, balance power and reduce energy consumption.
Mob-Energy will help you choose the most appropriate solution, depending on your fleet, the capacity of the electricity network and your CSR objectives.
How do you manage vehicle recharging for employees, visitors and fleets?
Good charging management relies on connected solutions. Intelligent charging stations can monitor consumption (in kWh), adjust charging power and plan charging during off-peak hours.
Companies can offer access by RFID badge, monetisation by Eftpos terminals or mobility badges, depending on the specific needs and uses of fleets, employees and visitors.
Preventive maintenance and remote control (supervision) ensure the long-term reliability of the equipment.
What are companies legal obligations when it comes to installing bollards?
The LOM law requires businesses(commercial buildings, car parks and offices) to be pre-equipped with charging points for electric vehicles. All new buildings and major renovations must include a minimum number of spaces wired for electric charging points.
The regulations also lay down minimum power requirements (7.4 kW), depending on the number of spaces and use (fleet, public, employees).
The aim is to develop electric mobility and reduce CO₂ emissions as part of the energy transition.
These obligations apply to all existing and new buildings with at least 20 parking spaces.
What is the total cost and the stages involved in setting up an IRVE project?
The price of achargepoint depends on a number of parameters: charging power (AC or DC), type of chargepoint (standard or fast), electrical installation and car park configuration. On average, the cost of installation varies between €1,500 and €5,000 per charging point, including installation.
The key stages include
-
Site survey (diagnosis of the electrical network, low-voltage switchboard and available spaces)
-
Installation of the charging points by an approved IRVE installer, in compliance with the building code and electrical standards
-
Technical validation and commissioning of the recharging service.
The charging points can be installed outdoors or indoors, in a company car park, with installation times of just 3 days thanks to Mob-Energy’s above-ground installation solution.
What are the advantages of installing recharging points in a company?
Installing charging points on company premises has a number of economic, operational and environmental advantages.
Firstly, it is a concrete way of reducing mobility costs: electric charging of a company vehicle is up to 60% cheaper than petrol or diesel fuel, while stabilising the energy budget in the long term.
It’s also a way of improving the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of fleets and reducing CO₂ emissions, by promoting sustainable green mobility.
From an HR perspective, offering a recharging solution in the car park enhances employer appeal and employee comfort.
Finally, these infrastructures enhance the value of tertiary buildings, anticipate regulatory obligations, and contribute to the site’s ecological transition. In practice, a properly sized IRVE infrastructure enables several electric vehicles to be recharged simultaneously, while optimising the power available.
